About JAIR
The Jadavpur Association of International Relations (JAIR) occupies a unique and pioneering position in India’s foreign policy ecosystem. It is widely recognised as India’s first dedicated association of International Relations scholars and practitioners, created explicitly to bridge the longstanding gap between academic scholarship and diplomatic practice. Unlike conventional think tanks or university-bound academic bodies, JAIR was conceived as a national civil society platform, integrating universities, policymakers, diplomats, security professionals, and regional stakeholders into a sustained and structured dialogue on India’s external relations.

The Jadavpur Association of International Relations (JAIR) celebrated its 20th Foundation Day on 22 July 2026 at Vivekananda Hall, Jadavpur University. The occasion marked two decades of JAIR’s sustained contribution to academic scholarship, intellectual dialogue, and the study of International Relations, public policy, and strategic affairs. The Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Professor Ishani Naskar, Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University. The programme was chaired by Professor Partha Pratim Basu, Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University. The event brought together distinguished scholars, faculty members, students, alumni, and members of JAIR. It provided an opportunity to reflect upon the Association’s rich academic journey and reaffirm its commitment to promoting critical scholarship, informed public discourse, and meaningful interaction between academia and the policy community. As JAIR enters its twenty-first year, the Association looks forward to expanding its academic activities and continuing its contribution to the study and practice of International Relations.
